PDF files can be created in two different ways: as digital documents or as scanned documents.
- Digital PDF: These are created using software and contain text that the computer can read directly. Think of it like typing a document on your computer; every letter and word is recognized individually.
- Scanned PDF (PDF OCR): These are created by scanning paper documents. The computer sees this type of PDF as a big picture rather than individual words. Itβs like taking a photo of a page in a book.
Our Omni-bot now supports both types of PDF files! It can read and understand the text from digital PDFs and also use OCR (Optical Character Recognition) to extract text from scanned PDFs. This means we add information from both formats to our knowledge base.
If you encounter issues when uploading a PDF using the “File upload” function, please try the separate “PDF upload” feature. If you still have problems, please contact our support team for assistance.
